Let the Blame Game Begin
The GOP tent is MUCH smaller than it was in, say, 1994. Moderate Republicans are supporting and voting for Barack Obama. Where do you think the record-breaking campaign donations have been coming from for a year and half? This is a case where the excesses and corruption of the GOP officeholders and Bush Administration as well as a general dislike of the wacky Christian contingent of the party have simply driven these moderates away.
Moderate Republicans, moderate Democrats and Independents are the true silent majority of this country. Both political parties would do well to remember that by ceasing to cater to their lunatic (and LOUD) fringe groups.
