To Hell And Back Again
The following is a comment on a Huffington Post blog:
As a former paratrooper & combat veteran, with the exception of being raped by fellow soldiers and leaders, my story isn’t all that different from Angela Peacock’s. I’ve become very bitter and frustrated and my least favorite day of the year is Veteran’s Day because my experience is that this country could absolutely care less about it’s soldiers and vets. I can’t in good conscience recommend military service to any young person anymore.
Non-vets have NO clue how byzantine the VA is. It’s ridiculous and sad that the only people that vets can count on to understand are other vets and not the government that took so much from us when we were young and naive.
Oddly enough, I have “The Places That Scare You” and I don’t remember when or why I got it. I’m a voracious reader so it’s also odd that I’ve yet to read it but I guess I will now.
